Laser Vein Removal

The appearance of spider-veins is caused by small, enlarged superficial blood vessels that appear red or blue. They appear most commonly on your legs but can also appear on your face. For treatment – laser pulses of light are targeted over the area. The trapped blood inside the vein attracts the light. Absorption of the light energy causes the blood to be re-absorbed by the body collapsing the vein. After the first treatment you will notice the veins getting darker. After approximately one week you will see a definite improvement in the treated area. After three treatments most people see the end result.

The new technology laser treatment is made more comfortable by the use of a DCD (cryogen) system, which comes in contact with the skin over the blood vessel, cooling it, during the treatment.  This serves to protect the skin from injury, as well as reduce discomfort.  Side effects of treatment are few, but may include redness, swelling, or pain at the treatment site for a few days.  Rarely seen is blistering or temporary skin pigment change.

This new technology laser works by transmitting laser light through the skin to the blood within the blood vessels being treated.   As the light is absorbed, it is converted to heat, which is conducted to the surrounding walls of the vessels.   If enough damage is done to the walls of these tiny veins, the circulatory system will not be able to repair it.  If vessels are still visible after 4 to 6 weeks, one or two more treatments may be necessary. 

Good candidates for laser treatment have light skin, which has not been exposed to the sun in recent months.  Genetic telangiectasia on the lower extremities is very effectively removed with this newest technology laser system.
